Responsibilities and Duties
The Associate Director will report to the Director, assist with managing the day-to-day operations of the Academic Advising, Retention, and Completion Office (AARC), and serve in the capacity of Director in the absence of the Director.
Advising & Leadership

  • Oversee departmental intervention and retention programs (Academic Warning/Extended Warning, Academic Probation, Academic Renewal Program, Academic Dismissal Appeals)
  • Organize, manage, and report on all campus-wide intervention and retention efforts (including mass progress reports, mid-term grade reporting, and ad-hoc reporting)
  • Supervise and evaluate professional staff
  • Serve as hiring manager for all AARC professional staff searches, including training and onboarding; serve on the TU Advising Leadership Council; serve on university-wide committees
  • Responsible for placing academic holds for all TU students as a large-scale batch process
  • Participate in programming and events which include speaking to large groups
  • Carry a reduced caseload of FYE students, undecided students, and students in academic risk
  • Enroll freshmen in their first semester courses and assist with the monitoring of enrollment and registration
  • Coordinate and administer the AARC re-enrollment efforts for continuing students
  • Advise during freshman and transfer orientation programs
Technology
  • Serve as the advising PeopleSoft data steward. (PeopleSoft is the university’s current student information system)
  • Serve on the Functional Users Group
  • Coordinate with the AARC admin/pro-card holder to purchase any new office technology, getting it imaged and configured by OTS, and updating software as needed
  • Serve as a campus-wide administrator for EAB Navigate, TU’s student success and advising technology platform, including system configuration & maintenance, training, and support
  • Monitor data integrity between Navigate and PeopleSoft
  • Build reports and dashboards to track engagement, risk levels, and outcomes
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research (IR) and the university’s Office of Technology Services (OTS) teams to ensure accurate analytics
  • User engagement and adoption
  • Design and launch targeted campaigns
  • Partner with advising leaders, enrollment management, and student success offices to align Navigate tools with institutional strategies
  • Support early alert and intervention efforts, retention initiatives, and communication strategies
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the university and EAB
  • Attend EAB training, webinars, and conferences; stay up to date on new features
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the AARC mission, the division of Enrollment Management and the University.
Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications And Skills
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of experience as an academic advisor in higher education
  • Experience with leadership, professional staff supervision, and performance evaluation
  • Experience working with a diverse college student population
  • Knowledge of academic advising practices and student development theory
  • Knowledge and experience with academic support programs for students in academic jeopardy
  • Skills in program development and management
  • Strong skills and experience managing technology, student success management systems, CRM platforms
  • Ability to work well and communicate effectively with a wide range of people at different levels of the University organization
  • Evidence of commitment to academic advising as a professional field and career
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, and HighPoint
