The Risk Management (RM) Program Lead will assist RM Leadership in all phases of Risk Management, including supervision of Senior Risk Associate(s) and Risk Associate(s), litigation and claims evaluation, medical record review, preparation of summary reports, participation in Apparent Cause Analysis or Root Cause Analysis related to sentinel or other critical events, and other tasks as assigned by RM leadership. The incumbent will also participate in Quality Improvement Committee, projects, or other work as requested. Responsibilities
Assist Director in managing daily operations of the department, providing operational support to Risk Associates. Establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff, promoting a positive public perception of Stamford Health. Contribute to Performance and Quality Improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, and compliance with risk management policies. Respond to inquiries regarding occurrences implicating medical, legal, ethical, or loss control issues; prepare reports for Claims Committee. Oversee analysis of occurrence reports to determine significance and reportability. Assist in determining corrective actions for risk and error reduction. Investigate occurrences involving risk management or liability issues. Review medical information requests for litigation implications. Develop and track department metrics, create reports, and oversee database maintenance. Participate in investigations and analysis for clinical review meetings. Lead serious event review panels and oversee RM educational initiatives. Manage projects like RM Grant Program and CANDOR. Deliver presentations and participate in professional organizations. Provide risk management call support and oversee staff orientation. Ensure compliance with policies and external agency requirements. Develop programs for tracking significant occurrences and participate in performance improvement committees. Assist with regulatory reporting and inspections. Provide staff training on risk management topics. Perform other duties to maintain high service levels and compliance. Qualifications
Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s preferred. Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience. Ability to maintain databases and analyze data using quality improvement methods. 3+ years of risk experience and 4+ years of leadership preferred. CPHRM certification required; if not held at hire, must be obtained within 1 year. Excellent communication and organizational skills; proficiency in MS Office required. Additional Details
