Boaz Lane, Dallas, TX 75205 Onsite Requirements: Canvas experience is required Video editing experience with Camtasia or another tool is required Accessibility knowledge is required Job Description: This is an on-campus, in-person, 6-month contract position. The Instructional Designer will work with the Perkins School of Theology to design and develop media-rich, highly interactive online courses in Canvas for students at Southern Methodist University. The role involves collaborating with faculty and project managers to produce instructional materials, training faculty in technical and pedagogical skills, and ensuring course quality standards are met. Responsibilities include assisting with filming and editing video content, conducting Quality Matters reviews, and supporting faculty in course development. Essential Functions: Design and implement online courses and teaching techniques. Create instructional materials and revise existing courses for online delivery. Coordinate with online production teams and report progress. Train and support faculty on technology tools and instructional strategies. Assist with media/video/audio requests and perform video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. Ensure course content accessibility and compliance with Quality Matters standards. Manage project timelines and coordinate course development activities. Support faculty in building and copying Canvas course shells. Perform quality and accessibility checks on course content. Coordinate student workers and ensure timely course delivery. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field. At least 3 years of experience, including 2 years building online course content. Experience with Canvas LMS is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Familiarity with LMS and instructional technologies. Proficiency with audio/video technologies and editing software. Knowledge of quality rubrics like Quality Matters. Spanish language skills are a plus. Physical and Environmental Demands: Sitting for long periods. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
