Job Summary: Reinhart’s Minneapolis Office is seeking to hire a litigation associate with 1- 5 years of experience to support our Employee Benefits team. To be successful, the candidate will have litigation experience, (preferably gained while practicing in both state and federal court), and superior research, analytical, and writing skills. The position involves managing a high volume of litigation files including federal, state, and administrative cases. This associate will be required to make appearances primarily in federal court, but also in state and administrative hearings. Finally, the position requires expertise in federal and state rules of civil procedure. Responsibilities: Represent employee benefit plan clients in connection with all phases of matters relating to the prosecution of delinquent employer contribution claims in federal court, benefit denials, subrogation and intervention claims, benefit claim appeals, and employer withdrawal liability claims. Appear in state and federal court, and administrative proceedings. Manage and calendar all appearances and deadlines. Diligently prosecute all files in accordance with the clients’ requests. Prepare and respond to discovery, including taking depositions. Work with collective bargaining agreements, plan documents, trust agreements, policies, and other types of contracts. Initiate federal litigation, draft and file all types of civil motions, and intervention claims in workers’ compensation proceedings. File mechanic’s liens and bond claims. Pursue collection of judgments including drafting garnishment summons. Respond to subpoenas and demands from participants, including benefit claim litigation. Assist with research and client memoranda. Qualifications: Superior research and writing skills Excellent judgment and ability to professionally interact with clients, opposing counsel, and office team members Federal and state court litigation experience Law Degree (JD) from an ABA accredited, nationally recognized law school License to practice in Minnesota or timely admission Seniority level
