Job Summary
The Catering Sales & Operations Manager at Adobe Lodge plays a key role in overseeing all special events and private dining experiences, including weddings, high-profile university events and weekday lunch service at the Faculty Cafe. This role blends sales and event execution. You will be working closely with an Executive Chef, cooks, student workers and manage a rotating team of temp servers, bartenders and utility staff depending on event needs. This role is also an integral member of the catering management team and will regularly assist with campus-wide university catering events as needed offering leadership, support, and coordination across a variety of campus locations. The ideal candidate will have a background in both event sales and operational execution from prospecting and booking to leading day-of logistics. Experience in high-touch catering, large-scale events, and restaurant-style service is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for all catering inquiries and private event bookings at Adobe Lodge and the Faculty Café. Develop proposals, conduct site tours and tastings, and negotiate pricing/contracts to maximize client satisfaction and revenue. Cultivate long-term relationships with internal university stakeholders, alumni groups, and external clients. Collaborate with marketing to promote event spaces and seasonal offerings. Event Planning & Execution Plan, coordinate, and execute a wide range of events, including weddings, university receptions, and private dinners — especially those hosted in high-profile areas like the University President’s dining room. Partner with the Executive Chef and culinary team to design custom menus and ensure flawless guest experiences. Oversee all event logistics including setup, rentals, staffing, service, and teardown. Assist with campus-wide catering events as needed, offering support with planning, logistics, and on-site coordination.
Operations Management
Oversee weekday lunch service at the Faculty Café, ensuring a high-end dining experience. Hire, train, and schedule a team of temporary and student workers including servers, bartenders, and utility staff. Maintain vendor relationships and manage third-party service providers as needed.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
Track event profitability, labor utilization, and food cost in alignment with Bon Appétit’s financial targets. Manage banquet event orders (BEOs), staffing forecasts, invoicing, and internal reporting.
Team Leadership & Culture
Be a collaborative member of the catering management team, contributing to overall strategy, operations, and service excellence across all catering outlets. Build a positive, inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, and hospitality. Uphold Bon Appétit standards for safety, sustainability, and guest service.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of catering sales or event management experience with a focus on weddings and large scale events Restaurant experience a strong plus Experience managing variable schedules and staffing for dynamic event environments Excellent communication, organization and client service skills Comfortable working in a high-profile environment with high expectations Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends (typically Tuesday–Saturday)
