Principal Scientist - Precision Medicine Translational Target Discovery What you will do
Lets do this. Lets change the world. Precision Medicine is seeking a computational biologist to develop and substantiate therapeutic hypotheses through the integrative analysis real-world, molecular and clinical data. In this vital role you will work in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders spanning different therapeutic areas and modalities, computational biology, precision medicine and the human genetics team at deCODE genetics. Success in these efforts will impact our existing drugs, those in development, and drive the discovery of novel targets entering the pipeline.
Example Focus Areas Include
Develop, lead and execute collaborative hypothesis-driven computational analysis of diverse datasets including:
Spatial imaging and transcriptomics Multi-omics (scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Proteomics etc) Longitudinal clinical data such as plasma proteomics Human population genetics
Develop and apply statistical and machine learning approaches to understand
features associated with clinical outcomes such as response to therapy
Build gene regulatory networks to understand and model the impact of disease associated genetic variation or therapeutic perturbation
Translate computational insights into decision making and communicate with diverse stakeholders

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable] and 2 years of directly related experience
Or
Masters degree and 5 years of directly related experience
Or
Bachelors degree and 7 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD and 4 years industry or academic experience Strong background in object-oriented programming and analysis of large datasets Track record of leading successful computational biology projects in clinical, translational or therapeutic science Ability to analyze complex data and distill findings into actionable insights. Ability to develop rigorous analysis plans and to interpret experimental results through statistical and quantitative approaches Proven ability in written, visual and oral scientific communication a strong record of scientific publication or presentation Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of computational biology methods and approaches is a must. Define, build and execute the simplest necessary computational approach to solve a problem. Translate biological and therapeutic concepts into computational hypotheses, perform the work and then simply and clearly communicate analytical results visually, orally and in writing.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Principal Scientist - Precision Medicine Translational Target Discovery What you will do
