Job Summary:
The
Senior Director Finance
will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for the company’s Chemical Technologies and Global Technologies Divisions. This role is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, risk management, and ensuring adherence to government regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in government contracting, financial strategy, and leadership in a highly regulated industry and will be in a division leadership role, coaching and mentoring functional staff and others. This role will serve as the leader of the finance team while also advising the broader management team as a thought leader in identifying profit-generating and working capital improvement opportunities.
This leadership position requires a dynamic, collaborative, and compliance minded leader with a strong background in government contracting and/or commercial fields .
Extensive knowledge of financial management of all contract types, Finance regulations, and the ability to create and lead a high-performance team are all essential for success in this role. Experience with international operations preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership:
Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy to drive profitability and operational efficiency. Partner with leadership to align financial goals with business objectives. Partner with Program counterparts to assess program EAC and risks and opportunities. Partner with Operations and Programs leadership to drive Working Capital initiatives across the business and achieve AOP and strategic plan commitments. Support and lead all Finance transformation initiatives and identify opportunities for process and systems improvements. Stay current on changes to FAR, DFARS, and other relevant regulations, and communicate updates and implications to internal stakeholders.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making. Review and approve proposals and quotes across Business Areas. Provide financial guidance on pricing strategies for government contracts, including Cost-Plus, Firm-Fixed Price (FFP), and Time & Materials (T&M) contracts. Ensure accurate and timely communication of all FP&A deliverables. Maintain regular contact with Finance and Division leadership to provide regular status updates on financial commitments. Develop and/or maintain financial models for multi-year defense programs and other initiatives as needed. Monitor key financial metrics and provide actionable insights to leadership.
Government Contract Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements. Support the development of indirect rate structures, incurred cost submissions, and financial reporting to government agencies. Maintain strong internal controls to ensure contract compliance and mitigate financial risk.
Risk Management & Internal Controls:
Identify and manage financial risks related to government contracts and regulatory requirements. Oversee and support the development of policies and procedures to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
Financial Operations & Reporting:
IFR opportunity identification and preparation. Review month end closing for potential accounting issues and work closely with Finance/Controllers organization to ensure accuracy of monthly financial statements. Evaluate proposal cost and pricing data for accuracy, adequacy, reasonableness, consistency with tactical and strategic initiatives, and legal and contractual commitments. Prepare reports for review and present to Leadership and other internal and external groups. Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP and government reporting standards. Optimize working capital, cost efficiency, and financial performance across all programs.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous development. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration within the finance team. Collaborate with internal departments, including program management, legal, finance, HR, and engineering, to develop finance strategies and ensure alignment with business objectives. Build, develop, and inspire a high-performance team that acts with integrity, meets commitments, works collaboratively, drives continual improvement, and achieves goals.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s/MBA preferred). 12+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance role within a government contracting/defense environment. Experience in Indirect Cost and Rate Management
Qualifications:
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA requirements. Expertise in financial systems, ERP software, and government cost accounting principles. Experience managing government contract financials, indirect rates, and compliance. Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience managing all contract types: Fixed Price, Fixed Unit Rate, Cost Plus, Time & Material. Strong accounting knowledge and compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations. Background and expertise in Government Finance from the Defense industry, with strong command of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR and DFAR) and other related regulations.

Demonstrated aptitude for working with non-finance business leaders at all levels of the organization in defining and applying complex financial constructs for the benefit of the business.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CMA, or CFA certification. Previous experience with mergers, acquisitions, or contract bid/proposal pricing.
