This role will own the market entry strategy, set the vision, and execute a 3–5-year growth plan to establish the organization as a trusted Main Automation Contractor (MAC) and digital partner for drug manufacturers and personalized medicine producers. You will lead market development, build a high-performance cross-functional team, and deliver aggressive growth targets while ensuring compliance with cGMP, FDA, EMA, and other regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Market Development Define and deploy a 3–5-year strategic plan covering market segmentation, value propositions, commercial targets, and investment priorities. Serve as subject-matter expert on Pharma/Life Sciences trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory drivers, translating insights into portfolio and channel strategies. Identify and close portfolio gaps in automation platforms, cybersecurity, and related areas through collaboration with Product Management, R&D, and strategic partners. Build brand presence through thought leadership, conference keynotes, and participation in industry consortia and standards bodies. Commercial Execution & Growth Lead the end-to-end U.S. Life Sciences commercial, marketing, and operations agenda from sales through service. Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline, set targets, and coach teams on complex pursuits. Negotiate multi-site automation or EPC contracts with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders. Partner with global account and service teams to secure early specification, convert orders, and ensure smooth project execution. Deliver all financial targets, including revenue, margin, and pipeline growth. Start-up Team Building & Operations Design the operating model for sales, consulting, project delivery, and service functions. Recruit, onboard, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team. Instill an entrepreneurial, agile culture while adhering to governance, compliance, and safety standards. Develop KPIs, dashboards, and performance management cadence for transparency and accountability. Compliance, Quality & Risk Management Embed cGMP, FDA, GAMP 5, Data Integrity, and HSE requirements into all solutions and processes. Proactively identify and mitigate risks in regulatory, cybersecurity, supply chain, and financial areas. Uphold the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and sustainability. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or Business; MBA or MSc preferred. 15+ years of leadership in Pharma/Biotech automation, MES, or EPC project business. Proven track record closing $30M–$100M+ multi-site automation or EPC contracts. Deep expertise in cGMP, FDA/EMA, GAMP 5, ISA-95, and ISA-88. Strong sales background with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to build a business from zero. Extensive network with engineering firms, CMOs/CDMOs, Big Pharma, and industry associations. Willingness to travel up to 60%. Preferred: Start-up or greenfield business-launch experience in a global enterprise. Knowledge of continuous or modular manufacturing, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled PAT. PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or ISPE Pharma 4.0 certification. Core Leadership Competencies Acts as a single face to the customer while orchestrating across sales, product, service, legal, and finance functions.
