Senior Electrical Engineering Technician
to join the team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a passion for bringing hardware to life. In this role, you will be responsible for the critical tasks of prototyping, testing, and debugging new sensor systems in our lab environment. Your expertise will be essential in transforming cutting-edge engineering designs into functional, reliable hardware. This position requires strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. You should be confident in asking the right questions to navigate ambiguity, troubleshoot complex issues, and support dynamic project timelines. Key Responsibilities: • Sensor Prototyping & Rework: Assemble, test, and validate new sensor prototypes. Perform fine-pitch soldering, component replacement, and PCB modifications to support rapid iteration and debugging. • Testing & Characterization: Design and execute test plans to characterize sensor performance and validate hardware functionality against design specifications. • Debugging & Repair: Systematically troubleshoot and debug complex hardware issues at the board and system level, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. • Lab Expertise: Serve as the hands-on expert for lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters. • Technical Analysis: Thoroughly read and interpret schematics, component datasheets, and other technical documentation to understand circuit-level functionality and inform your testing and debug efforts. • Scripting & Automation: Utilize, run, and debug existing Python scripts for test automation, data acquisition, and analysis. • Communication & Reporting: Provide clear and concise status updates on your work to project leads and management. Proactively communicate challenges, findings, and progress. • Independent Execution: Manage your tasks and priorities with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating a proactive and results-oriented work ethic. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of professional experience in a hands-on hardware engineering or lab-focused role. • Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, KiCad). • Experience with mechanical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for designing fixtures or test setups, and familiarity with 3D printing for rapid prototyping of custom parts. • Experience in a fast-paced R&D or new product introduction (NPI) environment. • Proven expertise in using a wide range of electronic lab equipment for testing and debugging. • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting complex schematics and component datasheets. • Experience with running and debugging scripts for test automation or data analysis (Python experience is strongly preferred). • Experience with low noise analog front ends and noise measurements. • Experience managing and maintaining an electronics lab, including equipment procurement, calibration schedules, component inventory, and safety protocols. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage your own workload with minimal supervision. • Exceptional attention to detail, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation. • Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions to clarify ambiguous requests or technical challenges. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Education: • Minimum requirements of a Bachelor’s Degree with EE, ME, computer engineering. Type:
