Job Purpose
The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the overall data architecture of the organization. This role involves creating a comprehensive data strategy to support the business's strategic goals, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and availability across various systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data management, with a strong understanding of business intelligence (BI), data analytics, lake house architecture, and technology.
What will you do?
Develop and execute the enterprise data architecture strategy aligned with the organizations goals. Collaborate with business leaders to understand data needs and ensure the architecture supports business objectives. Implement master data management, reference data management, metadata management strategies to ensure data consistency, quality and security. Design and implement data models, data flows, and data integration strategies to support business processes. Establish data governance frameworks and best practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and security. Design and implement BI architecture to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making processes. Develop and maintain BI data models, dashboards, and reports that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders. Design and implement lake house architectures that combine the features of data lakes and data warehouses, optimizing for both structured and unstructured data. Oversee the integration of disparate data sources and systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability. Provide technical leadership and guidance during the data integration and migration processes. Implement data governance policies and standards to manage data effectively and ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Monitor data quality and performance metrics, addressing issues as they arise to maintain data integrity. Lead cross-functional teams to drive data-related projects and initiatives. Communicate data architecture strategies and solutions to stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
What do you need to know?
Deep expertise in data engineering, data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Databricks). Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, and data governance principles. Hands-on experience with data integration and ETL/ELT tools. Proven ability to design and implement scalable and resilient data architectures. Experience preparing data for machine learning and AI applications. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical, written, listening, and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to build relationships across departments and facilitate collaboration on data initiatives. Develop, monitor, and analyze KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data management processes and tools.
Critical Experience & Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field. Masters degree or equivalent is preferred. Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), TOGAF, or similar are highly desirable. Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data management. Ability to design and develop interactive dashboards and reports that drive business insights. Experience with data warehousing solutions and techniques (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery). Knowledge of how to leverage lake house architectures for scalable and efficient data processing and analytics.
