SALARY:

$300.00 full day and $150.00 haf day assignment.

POSITION SUMMARY : Area Guest Teachers are assigned to serve schools within an area of the school district daily. Each area is comprised of elementary, middle, and high schools that serve comprehensive high school feeder patterns. This daily position will start on first day of school and last through the end of the school year; Area Guest Teachers are expected to work as a guest teacher within their assigned area every day. The position of Area Guest Teacher is to provide continuity of the learning environment in the absence of a regular classroom teacher. The Area Guest Teacher will present the lesson prepared by the teacher or provide alternative instruction if lesson plans are not available. Area Guest Teachers are expected to maintain a level of classroom control that allows students to learn.

Human Resources assigns Area Guests each night or possibly the morning of into a position that has not been filled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Area Guest Teachers cover daily classroom positions as scheduled every afternoon/evening by Human Resources. Their responsibilities may include: Perform such classroom teaching and other duties related to the school program as may be assigned from the regular teacher or by the Principal or designee. Teach and follow the recommended District Student Exit Outcomes at each level and subject area. Integrate a variety of instructional strategies and curriculum content. Prepare effective plans to meet objectives; motivate student by making lessons interesting and challenging. Give explanations, reasonable and appropriate assignments, and directions clearly. Organize the classroom setting to contribute to the learning process. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with building subject area teachers to develop and align curriculum, instruction, and interdisciplinary projects. Enlist the assistance of counselors, administration, and other support personnel where appropriate. Establish clear parameters for student behavior in the classroom. Discipline students in a firm and controlled manner. Encourage students to develop courtesy, self-control, respect, and responsibility. Enforce rules throughout the school. Develops rapport with students as individuals in a professional manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Current Washington State Teacher's Certificate. Bachelor's degree or higher

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis - jobs assigned daily by HR in specific area of the district.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completed a teaching program. Bilingual.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Criminal background clearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

WORK SCHEDULE This position is a school-year position expected to work every student day. A flexible, vacancy-driven schedule will be required - on a daily student-day basis, Area Guest Teachers will be assigned through the Human Resources Assignment system to report to a school within their designated area - this may include elementary, middle, and high school assignments.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Position reports to the building administrators or designees.

LEVEL OF COMPENSATION $300 per day; This position includes the following benefits prorated based on FTE - Medical, dental, vision, sick leave and life insurance.
