The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:•Requests and retrieves national criminal history records. •Processes and performs research on complex applicant background check requests requiring out of state research, federal or military agency crimes research in the Commonwealth.•Analyzes §19.2-389 of the Code of Virginia to determine proper record dissemination based on eligibility requirements within designated time parameters.•Provide a comprehensive overview of research methodologies and statistical reports for supervision and management. •Conduct analysis utilizing statutory authorizations for the accurate dissemination of applicant criminal records.About the Agency:We are seeking to expand our diverse team of change makers and innovators. Minimum QualificationsKnowledge:•Of office practices and procedures.•Of research and analysis techniques and methodologies.•Of statistical analysis.Skills:•In the operation of desktop computers.•In using Microsoft Office applications. •In databases to access and retrieve data and records.•In organization and time management.Abilities:•To apply research and analytical methodology in the interpretation of criminal arrest and disposition information.•To analyze and interpret policies, procedures, state and federal automated records and other criminal history data.•To conduct research and apply appropriate good judgement analytical and evaluative techniques.•To apply critical thinking and sound judgement to interpret laws, regulations, and other source documents to formulate conclusions and provide recommendations.•To provide attention to detail and organization.•To communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with staff, external agencies and officials, and the public as required.•Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified which requires either United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization. •High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Additional Considerations•Working knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the dissemination of criminal records, barrier crime statutes for employment, and their equivalent preferred.•Working knowledge of state and federal criminal history databases VCIN/NCIC preferred. •Experience in retrieval and interpretation of criminal arrest and disposition information preferred.•Experience working in a public safety environment and with sensitive and confidential information preferred.Special InstructionsYou will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
