£100,000 – £120,000 Plus Bonus, Car Allowance and Package Our client is developing multiple anaerobic digestion projects in the UK with ambitious plans to become the largest producer of biomethane, biogenic CO2 and green fertiliser in the UK. The company has excellent prospects ahead and plans to grow substantially in the coming years. The Head of Construction will spearhead the new construction team. Reporting to the Engineering and Delivery Director, you will be responsible for the overall construction management and delivery of several major AD developments across England and Scotland (portfolio value of circa £400m). The initial plan is to build 15 projects over the next two years, each with an estimated construction period of 12 months, followed by an extensive commissioning phase. The Role: You will play a leading role in the end-to-end construction. Working closely with the Head of Infrastructure and various key stakeholders, developing efficient construction projects within the agreed time and cost objectives whilst ensuring the highest levels of safety, health, environmental, quality (SHEQ) and wellbeing for those affected by construction works. Responsibilities: Heading up the coordination, management, and safe and timely delivery of a multi-million-pound portfolio of construction projects. Coordinate and execute several high-value and diverse work packages, ensuring construction, commissioning, and performance testing phases are effectively coordinated and delivered within the agreed time, cost, and quality parameters. Communicate effectively with the senior management team and key construction stakeholders, delivering clear and concise management information including programme, contractor, SHEQ performance and progress reports. Oversee the development, implementation, and management of a high-performing integrated construction team, structure and policies. Leading and motivating up to 20 direct employees, ensuring all team members consistently perform at their best to meet individual and organisational objectives. Leading by example, using your extensive construction skills, experience and knowledge to train, coach, and mentor team members, helping them develop their skills. Perform regular appraisals and performance reviews to ensure the construction team is continually engaged and motivated. Establish medium to long-term resource plans, ensuring the correct quantity and calibre of staff (such as attitude, skills, and experience) are identified and appointed to successfully deliver current and future construction project portfolios. Proactively monitor and mitigate against any shortfalls or gaps in resources against the delivery plan. Implement, monitor and manage key elements for securing construction health & safety. As the Client representative, ensuring compliance with CDM (2015) and other relevant legislation. Actively support the planning department and scheduling team in developing portfolio and individual scheme plans and programmes. Effectively manage and communicate change and deviations from timescales and programmes, ensuring plans are implemented to minimise disruption to agreed time, cost, and quality objectives. Actively support the Senior Management team in developing appropriate procurement and contracting strategies, ensuring best practice, value engineering and collaborative working. Provide technical and cost assurance through the design, pre-construction, and tender process. Overall responsibility for the construction budget (circa £25m per project, total portfolio value of circa £400m). Experience: Comprehensive construction management experience in a similar position with a strong Civil Engineering background. Proven experience leading challenging, multi-million-pound projects within a process industry such as water/wastewater, energy from waste or anaerobic digestion. Proven experience of managing teams of between 5 to 20 reports at a leadership level, along with significant SHEQ experience. NEBOSH (Construction as a minimum), SMSTS, CSCS card Holder Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
