The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) seeks a passionate, community-oriented, and organized leader to join our team as the Activate Imperial Initiative Director.The Activate Imperial Initiative Director will play a vital role in leading LCF’s capacity building and coordination efforts in the Imperial Valley, supporting all aspects of LCF’s grantmaking, convening, and advocacy in the region. The position will ensure effective collaboration and resource coordination across a range of nonprofit and community stakeholders in the region to maximize LCF’s impact and support public and private sector investment in the region. They will steward community visioning efforts to align investments in the region with community priorities, center community and partner voices in LCF’s work, and support community driven narrative and policy work. This position is currently funded by a grant secured through July 31, 2028. Continued employment beyond that date, while expected, is contingent upon the availability of additional grant funding.The initiative is forecasted as a fiveyear initiative (2025-2030). As with all grant-funded roles, employment is contingent upon the continued receipt of grant funds. The Imperial Valley is on the cusp of major transformation, with significant public and private investments driving change across the region. Activate Imperial ensures that local, trusted nonprofits are prepared to embrace these opportunities as key players in shaping the region’s future – all on behalf of community members. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a passion for community-centered, systems thinking. The Activate Imperial Initiative Director will be a member of LCF’s Programs and Policy team, reporting to the Vice President of Economic Justice. The ideal candidate will be a trusted member of a collaborative team, bringing analytical and diplomatic skills, and will have knowledge of the region as well as experience with the topics of economic development and justice, social and environmental justice, community organizing, placemaking and/or the nonprofit sector. Steward the Activate Imperial Initiative • Steward and support key processes and deliverables of the initiative. • Serve as the primary staff lead on the operations of the initiative, including but not exclusive to: convening and supporting the work of an Activate Imperial Steering Committee; and managing consultant deliverables. • Support existing nonprofit partners and prospective or emerging nonprofit organizations that serve the Imperial Valley community by helping coordinate and align efforts across organizations and facilitating collaboration with local and state governments. • Support fundraising and regional awareness-building efforts to leverage public and private investments for the local nonprofit sector and the communities they serve, including activities such as timely events, tours, and convenings that support these goals. • Support the VP of Economic Justice in leveraging LCF’s philanthropic investment strategies in the region to ensure that the initiative’s objectives are advanced and achieved. • Track and record progress of the initiative and of partner outcomes. Prepare reports to communicate the impact of grants and programs to key stakeholders, including evaluators, funders, donors, LCF Board Members, and strategic partners. • Collaborate with the VP of Economic Justice and the Finance Department to manage the initiative’s annual budget. II. Advocate for Imperial Valley Communities • Collaborate with LCF’s Civic Power Team in advocating for budgetary and legislative actions at the local, state, and federal level that are fair and equitable to Imperial Valley communities. • Work closely with the Activate Imperial Steering Committee, core partners, and other organizations to ensure that Imperial Valley communities and partners themselves can access public resources at the local, state, and federal levels.,. • Track data and research on issues and developments affecting Imperial Valley communities and proactively identify opportunities for advocacy and partnership, including opportunities to support partner advocacy efforts and/or collaboration efforts to align a regional, unified policy agenda. III. Communicate Impact of Activate Imperial • Plan virtual and in-person events to communicate impact, raise visibility, and engage the greater community on Activate Imperial and the communities it aims to serve and support. • Share and disseminate resources and collateral targeting relevant stakeholders within and outside of Imperial County to both inform and build a narrative around the importance of the region and the importance of investing in the region’s nonprofit capacity and community vision. • Serve as the primary point of contact with public sector partners and aligned parties, representing LCF and Activate Imperial in other coalition-based engagements and collaborative networks. • Serve as a LCF spokesperson for Activate Imperial for media inquiries, press interviews, panel presentations, and community events. Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
LCF seeks an experienced, motivated, and organized professional for this role. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience and a proven track record in program development and project management working with nonprofits and community stakeholders. Experience in the Imperial County region and knowledge of economic justice, economic development, environmental justice, social justice, community organizing, and/or the nonprofit sector is required. Preferred Skills and Qualifications • A deep commitment to advancing racial justice and supporting Latino and immigrant communities, and a commitment to playing a visible and consistent presence in the community. • At least five years of experience working with or within philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, local governments, or other community stakeholders. • Demonstrated knowledge of Imperial Valley, Imperial County, and the opportunities for the region. • Significant experience with public facing activities, such as convenings, roundtables, tours, canvassing, community organizing, or other public and community outreach. • Experience engaging diverse voices and points of view strategically and with diplomacy. • Demonstrated experience in developing or contributing to grant, program, or project proposals for funding opportunities, such as grants, sponsorships, or other fundraising efforts. • Ability to leverage feedback, new data, and/or new opportunities to inform processes, outcomes and storytelling, as well as experience leveraging storytelling to change narratives and drive action. • Ability to handle and prioritize competing priorities and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated excellence in project management, organization, problem-solving. • Effective and clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Collaborative approach, kindness, positive attitude, and grace in leadership. • Proficiency in video conferencing, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and various project management tools. Compensation LCF offers an attractive compensation package, including a competitive base salary and benefits such as health, 401(k), and vacation. The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $115,000 commensurate with experience. This role is a remote position but must be based in Imperial County, ideally in the Imperial Valley where the initiative is focused. Candidates will be expected to comply with LCF’s remote work policies. Additionally, this position will require occasional travel across California and other areas of the United States.
