Entry-Level Distribution Designer (Engineering – Utility Industry)
Location: Asheville, NCÂ
We have an exciting opportunity for an entry-level engineer interested in launching their career in the Utility industry as a Distribution Designer. This role provides hands-on experience designing safe, cost-effective, and reliable power distribution facilities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

What You’ll Do
Prepare project/job packages including material lists, labor estimates, drawings, and requisitions. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, plans, construction specifications, and manuals. Perform drafting work and assist in preparing designs, plans, and reports. Make accurate engineering calculations and apply industry codes, policies, and regulations. Use CAD software and design tools to complete work packages. Evaluate distribution equipment such as transformers and fusing. Communicate job status regularly to ensure client expectations and deadlines are met. Coordinate with construction personnel and clients to resolve project issues. Support utility construction practices on both public ROW and private property. Promote and practice safety procedures 100% of the time. Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics. CAD experience. Strong problem-solving, math, and technical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Valid driver’s license.
