The Trial Attorney (Hybrid) will represent and advise policyholders on various legal issues and in different forums including court, arbitrations and mediations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct and / or defend Depositions and take Examinations Under Oath. Defend by trial or pre-trial proceedings NYCM insureds. Report on a timely basis to NYCM Claims Department. Manage a caseload of litigated files. Handles simple and moderate personal lines cases through trial, arbitration or appeal for clients on cases assigned. Perform legal research. Effectively negotiate settlements. Attend hearings and conduct trials. Consult with clients, opposing counsel and the judiciary. Prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and answer / discovery as required and other legal documents. Assist other attorneys. Any other duties assigned. Requirements
Juris Doctorate Degree from an Accredited Law School Experience organizing and prioritizing a case workload and meet deadlines Qualifications & Skills
Strong working knowledge of civil litigation and trial process. Strong working knowledge of personal lines insurance policies and practices. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, detail oriented, and documentation skills. Strong professional written and verbal communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and take ownership of decisions. Market Range:
14 / Exempt / 40 hours per week / Hybrid - 2 Days in Office Salary:
