Activities Director (Healthcare)

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility. Stay informed about current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards. Maintain effective communication with employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and interests of residents, the community, and the facility.

Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of residents and families. Assist in reviewing survey findings by authorized government agencies, develop corrective action plans for activity deficiencies, and provide written reports to the Administrator.

Attend regular meetings including General Staff, Department Head, Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance (TEAM, Infection Control), Safety Committee, Marketing, Family and Resident Council. Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing corrective actions for quality deficiencies.

Contribute to discharge planning, develop, and implement activity care plans and resident assessments. Assist in arranging transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.

Create a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading. Provide necessary materials, including Braille or audio books as appropriate.

Ensure all charted activity notes are detailed and descriptive of services provided and residents' responses. Supervise and manage activity staff as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; preferred one year experience in a long-term care facility.

Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions.

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Problem-solving and interpretative skills for various instructions.

Activity Director certification required.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Frequent talking and hearing; frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.

Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

Low to moderate noise level; accommodations available for disabilities; duties may be reassigned as needed.
