Paka was founded in 2016 in Cusco, Peru when its founder, Kris Cody, came across an alpaca sweater in an artisan market. He had never touched anything as soft and lightweight. Kris began living alongside a family of Quechua weavers with a dream to bring alpaca fiber to the outdoors industry; at the time, alpaca fiber was mainly used in high fashion apparel, and he saw the opportunity to harness its incredible function (having evolved in one of the most rugged climates on Earth). Fast forward 7 years, and Paka has connected hundreds of thousands of customers back to where their clothing comes from, who made it, and what it’s made of.
A Certified B Corp, Paka’s mission is to create versatile, sustainable alpaca apparel for the outdoors, fostering a deeper connection to nature and uplifting Peruvian communities. Paka donates 1% of its revenues directly back to the communities where its clothing is sourced, from financing university tuition for young Peruvian women to building greenhouses in the rural Andes for the alpaquero communities. All of its products are made with Traceable Alpaca fiber. Paka is now at a pivot point in its global journey.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a visionary, hands-on Vice President of Product to lead our Design, Merchandising, and Product Development functions. This executive will drive the full product lifecycle from concept to commercialization, ensuring every item in our assortment reflects PAKA’s values of sustainability, performance, and storytelling.
The ideal candidate blends creative vision with commercial rigor. You’re as comfortable reviewing construction details on a prototype as you are mapping a global line plan, building a scalable team structure, or pitching the next big idea to excite our consumers.
You will lead a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and merchants who are passionate about quality, sustainability, and impact. As a member of our leadership team, you’ll help shape the future of the PAKA brand.
Your Impact
Own and articulate the product vision aligned with PAKA’s mission and growth goals
Build and manage a global product strategy across categories, channels, and customer segments
Translate market trends, consumer data, and brand positioning into actionable product roadmaps
Define seasonal creation calendars, product architecture, and pricing strategies
Partner with the GM and CEO/Creative Director to ensure alignment between product, storytelling, and commercial goals
Lead the development of seasonal collections that are innovative, elevated, and distinctly PAKA
Guide silhouette, fabric, color, and fit direction for all categories
Optimize assortments across DTC and wholesale channels with a focus on margin and SKU productivity
Oversee category expansion with clear decision frameworks and consumer-led planning
Collaborate with marketing and creative to infuse storytelling into the product experience
Manage the entire development lifecycle from concept through production
Leverage PLM system and product workflows to support scale
Drive innovation in materials, trims, and construction techniques
Ensure all products meet PAKA’s sustainability, performance, quality, and cost targets
Lead vendor collaboration to ensure on-time, high-quality production
Build processes and role clarity to ensure fit consistency across all product categories
Create accountability within team to ensure all product data is accurate before sharing with cross functional partners
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with marketing and brand to bring product stories to life across all consumer touchpoints
Collaborate with supply chain and GM to manage costs, timelines, and margin targets
Work closely with sourcing and our Peru-based team to uphold ethical, sustainable practices
Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing product organization
Create clarity around roles, responsibilities, and success metrics
Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and innovation
Support team development through coaching, structure, and growth opportunities
Drive collaboration and alignment across creative, technical, and business functions
