$125,000–$135,000 annually (based on experience) Overview An established and growing commercial construction firm is seeking a full-time
Estimator
with proven experience in leading the estimating process for commercial building projects. This is a key role within the pre-construction team, offering an opportunity to contribute directly to the company’s continued success in Southern Maine and Northern New England. Responsibilities
Analyze project documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules across all disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, MEP, fire protection, etc.) Produce accurate quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff Prepare detailed cost estimates by CSI division, including labor, materials, and timelines Maintain and update a historical cost database Conduct bid leveling and assemble final proposals for submission Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal review sessions as required Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing based on defined scopes of work Develop Requests for Proposals and coordinate subcontractor communication Ensure estimates comply with internal standards and client requirements Identify project-specific risks and account for them in cost analysis Collaborate with architects, owners, project managers, and other stakeholders Support a smooth handoff of awarded projects to the operations team Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent experience considered Minimum 5 years of commercial estimating experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, and Bluebeam Ability to prepare both hard bid and conceptual estimates Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills Strong knowledge of current market pricing and construction means and methods Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple concurrent estimates Benefits
