We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team in Wilmington, MA.
This role will be responsible for designing and delivering control systems for industrial machinery and processes. Work will include PLC, DCS, and HMI/SCADA programming, database development, control panel design, instrumentation specification, documentation, and commissioning support.
Key Responsibilities Develop control system architecture, select components, and create
schematics/documentation. Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and visualization systems (HMI/SCADA). Build and maintain databases for historical and real-time data. Support system commissioning at client sites. Apply programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text; knowledge of VBA, .NET, and SQL is a plus. Design and implement industrial networks using protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and Modbus. Contribute independently or within a team; may lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical/Controls,
Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science. 5+ years of experience in controls engineering. Strong knowledge of PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation preferred). Experience with HMI/SCADA (Rockwell Automation, Ignition) and DCS (Emerson DeltaV). Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical schematics (including NEC standards, power distribution
Familiar with automation protocols: HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC. Knowledge of batch control (S88), life science regulations (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5). SQL database experience. Strong leadership and client communication skills. Ability to travel up to 25%.
