Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Under the direction of the Director, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible to safely and proficiently perform all general and cardiac nuclear medicine imaging procedures and related patient care according to government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures of Imaging Services, and policies and procedures of the hospital. Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Orders and/or prepares the appropriate radiopharmaceuticals. Performs highly technical nuclear medicine procedures and utilizes computers to process and manipulate patient data to attain exam results. Maintains proper records to assure the department operates within the guidelines established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Manipulates complex mathematical formulas to calculate decay of radiopharmaceuticals and their biological half-lives. Compounds complex drug kits which may follow difficult and precise patterns of production. Educates patients on imaging procedures and answers questions within scope of practice and obtain patient consent. Performs IV placement and administers radiopharmaceutical injections under the direction of the Physician or other qualified medical personnel. Completes patient imaging using radiation-detecting instrumentation, monitors patient reaction to isotope, and processes computer and image enhancement. Establishes QC and QI protocols and performs QC testing on the advanced medical equipment used in the department. Works with Medical Physicist to maintain and assure instrumentation function. Properly documents spills or mis-administered injections and submit to the state when needed. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure departmental staff and patient safety. Ensures state and NRC regulations are met for proper documentation, handling, and disposing of radioactive materials. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures in accordance with internal and legal regulations. Delivers exemplary customer service in order to provide a positive patient experience across the organization. Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts. Must adhere to safety protocols at all times. Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values. Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations. This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals. Performs other related duties as assigned by the department Supervisor or Director. Minimum Qualifications:

Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills with information technology associated with the position including a familiarity with sending/receiving email, related software, and use of EHR information tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to emergent or urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine or accredited Radiologic Technologist program. NMBCT or ARRT certification in Nuclear Medicine or registry eligible. Minimum of 1 year of experience as an ARRT (R) Radiologic Technologist required. Ability to: read patient information on papers, computer screens, and physician orders; use a computer screen on a constant basis; perform repetitive motions pertaining to the performance of examinations and the use of equipment; write, operate a computer keyboard, and finely manipulate small objects; concentrate and make efficient and effective decisions; provide services to patients who may be anxious and/or under substantial stress. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

NMBCT or ARRT certification. American Heart Association BLS required; May have up to 30 days to earn BLS after date of hire or transfer. Safety-Sensitive Position:
