Network Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise-level network solutions supporting critical Department of Defense (DoD) missions. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in complex network architecture, federal compliance standards, and thrives in high-stakes environments where precision and security are non-negotiable. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement full-scale network solutions including routers, switches, TACLANEs, F5 Load Balancers, VPNs, DHCP, IP Management, and firewalls. Oversee installation, configuration, and optimization of network equipment to meet mission requirements. Ensure compliance with DoD security policies, protocols, and accreditation standards (802.1x, STIGs, SRGs, RMF, DoD 8500 series). Collaborate with system engineers, project managers, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders to deliver successful projects. Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams (Visio), configurations, baselines, and operational procedures. Conduct rigorous testing of network systems for functionality, performance, and security compliance. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues arising during deployment, integration, or testing. Support procurement processes by evaluating, sourcing, and recommending network hardware/software solutions. Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance, applying best practices in administration and security. Basic Qualifications: Strong knowledge of OSI Layers 14, networking protocols, and design principles. Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies (Catalyst Center/DNAC, Identity Services Engine). Proficient with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and load balancer setup/management. Skilled in routing, switching, network administration, and network security practices. Familiarity with RSA Authentication, VPNs, and distributed traffic optimization. Experience in network monitoring, testing, and performance tuning. Excellent written/verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams and clients. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree + 8 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree). Active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Active CompTIA Security+ or CCNP Security (8140 compliance). Active CCNA Certification (8140 compliance). Strong background in enterprise network architecture design and documentation. Deep understanding of cybersecurity practices, risk management, and continuity of operations/disaster recovery (COOP/DR). Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN). Proven ability to independently deliver high-impact technical solutions. Prior experience in federal/DoD/regulated environments, especially at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), or Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB).
