Primary Purpose:
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support the Controller in managing the company’s daily accounting operations and financial close process. This is a working-level manager role focused on coordinating work allocation, providing guidance to the accounting team and direct involvement in the execution of accounting tasks. You will lead the direction and prioritization of tasks for a team of Lead Accountants, manage the month-end close, ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative approach. In addition to team coordination, you will be instrumental in facilitating process improvements, supporting external audits, and delivering timely and meaningful financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Team Coordination and Guidance Provide day-to-day direction and guidance to a team of four Lead Accountants, review their work to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with GAAP Oversee daily operations of the accounting team with a balance of task management, issue resolution, payment authorization, and general ledger activities Promote a collaborative and supportive team environment through mentorship and open communication Financial Close Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations Coordinate regular status meetings to ensure the team stays on track with closing timeline and work is supported with proper documentation Perform GAAP research on complex accounting areas and prepare supporting documentation as needed Financial Analysis Conduct flux analysis to analyze account balances and trends to support month-end reviews Identify risks and variances and provide actionable insights to improve business processes Financial Reporting Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP Support the completion and implementation of deFacto, a financial reporting automation tool, ensuring a smooth transition from manual processes to automated environment Audit and Compliance Coordinate regular touchpoints and status updates with external auditors Actively support the annual audit and monitor progress to ensure timely completion Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies Process Improvement Keep an open mind to challenge existing processes and evaluate potential enhancements Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency Promote best practices and automation in accounting operations and reporting
Requirements:
Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance CPA certification Minimum 2 years of experience at a top 10 public accounting firm Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and internal control principles Experience with multi-entity consolidation and financial reporting Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, deFacto, and FloQast Familiarity with inventory accounting, lease accounting, and indirect taxes for distribution companies General and Interpersonal Skills Strong leadership and team management capabilities Collaborative, hands-on, and willing to “roll up your sleeves” to get things done Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with attention to detail Self-motivated with a proactive approach to challenges and continuous improvement Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Other Considerations Onsite position based in Austin, Texas.
