Job Summary: The

Warehouse/Inventory

Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the ordering, storage, organization, and tracking of materials, equipment, and supplies used in construction projects. This role involves ensuring that inventory levels are maintained, materials are properly stored, and orders are accurately processed and delivered to job sites as needed. The

Warehouse/Inventory

Specialist will work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and field staff to ensure timely availability of resources, minimize waste, and optimize storage space. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to efficiently manage inventory systems.

Duties/ Responsibilities: Regularly check stock levels of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring there is adequate inventory for ongoing and upcoming projects

Track material usage to identify when reordering is necessary

Keep accurate records of all inventory transactions, including materials received, issued, used, or returned

Use inventory management software to Issue purchase orders, track, update, and reconcile inventory data

Perform periodic physical inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies between actual stock and system records

Work closely with purchasing and procurement teams to reorder materials and supplies based on inventory needs and project timelines

Assist in identifying high-demand items and ensure timely ordering to avoid shortages or delays

Track deliveries from suppliers to ensure that orders are fulfilled correctly and on time

Inspect incoming shipments for quality and quantity and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers

Ensure materials are properly stored, labeled, and categorized to optimize storage space and facilitate quick access

Implement and maintain an organized system for tools, equipment, and supplies to reduce retrieval time

Ensure all materials, equipment, and tools are handled with care to prevent damage, waste, or loss

Implement safe lifting and storage practices to minimize the risk of injury and damage

Oversee the receipt of materials and tools, ensuring accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing shipments

Prepare materials for delivery to job sites, ensuring the right items are packed, labeled, and ready for transport

Generate packing slips, shipping labels, and other documentation to ensure proper tracking and reporting of inventory movements

Follow and enforce company safety guidelines and OSHA regulations within the warehouse, ensuring a safe working environment

Prepare and submit regular inventory reports, including stock levels, order status, and any discrepancies or concerns

Work closely with project managers to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment for construction sites

Other duties as assigned

Education/Certifications/Licenses Education High School Diploma or GED required

Certification Forklift Operator Certification or ability to obtain

OSHA 10 or ability to obtain

Licenses Driver’s License

Hazardous Materials Handling is a plus

Experience 2–3 years of experience in a warehouse environment, with a focus on inventory control, material handling, and storage

Experience in managing stock levels: Ensuring that materials and supplies are available when needed, minimizing shortages or overstocking, and preventing delays in construction projects

Proven experience using inventory management software to track stock, generate reports, and maintain up-to-date records

Hands-on experience with order fulfillment and processing, including picking, packing, and shipping materials to project sites

Experience working in construction-related environments where materials, equipment, and tools must be carefully tracked and managed

Experience working with suppliers: Knowledge of how to communicate and work with suppliers to ensure materials are ordered on time, delivered accurately, and meet project requirements

1–2 years of experience in procurement or supply chain functions, including tracking material orders, monitoring supplier deliveries, and working with procurement teams to manage the purchasing process

Understanding of the reordering process to ensure that stock levels align with project schedules and deadlines

Experience in managing supply shortages or excess inventory and taking corrective action to optimize stock levels

Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices relevant to warehouse operations and construction sites

Experience in resolving inventory discrepancies and identifying issues such as overstocking, understocking, or lost materials

Ability to implement corrective actions and improve warehouse processes, contributing to better inventory control and efficiency

Experience communicating with both vendors and project teams to ensure that material orders are accurate and timely

The ability to resolve issues with shipping delays, damaged goods, or discrepancies between orders and actual deliveries

Experience working in environments that require manual labor or performing physical tasks, such as loading/unloading materials

Required Skills/Abilities Ability to manage inventory systems, track stock levels, and ensure materials and supplies are available when needed without overstocking or running out

Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or industry-specific tools) to track and update material movements, usage, and returns

Skill in monitoring stock levels, anticipating material needs, and reordering supplies to prevent shortages or delays

Ability to collaborate with purchasing teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment

Ability to organize and categorize materials, tools, and equipment in a manner that allows for easy access and minimizes retrieval time

Skill in managing storage space effectively, optimizing warehouse layout to accommodate the varying sizes and types of materials

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing demands from project teams, deliveries, and inventory management

Strong multitasking abilities to juggle various inventory-related activities simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Strong attention to detail when tracking materials, recording stock levels, and performing inventory audits to avoid errors that could lead to shortages or overstocking

Ability to inspect materials upon receipt for quality and quantity, ensuring that they meet the specifications and are in good condition for use on construction projects

Identifying discrepancies or damage in incoming shipments and taking appropriate corrective action

Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and machinery, including their proper storage, handling, and usage in a contracting environment

Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling machinery, ensuring safety and efficiency

Ability to perform basic maintenance checks on warehouse equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure their proper functioning and minimize downtime

Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and guidelines, particularly those relevant to warehouse operations and the construction industry, to ensure a safe working environment

Understanding of how to handle and store hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, flammable items) according to safety standards and regulations

Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety risks in the warehouse, such as improper storage or handling of materials, and take corrective actions to prevent accidents

Strong communication skills to interact effectively with project managers, vendors, suppliers, and team members

Ability to work closely with procurement teams, project managers, and construction workers to ensure timely material availability and delivery to job sites

Ability to identify and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or delays in shipments

Ability to lift and move heavy materials, tools, and equipment, as warehouse roles often require physical labor

Skill in handling small tools, materials, and packaging, requiring attention to detail and careful handling to prevent damage

Ability to work with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate deliveries of materials, resolve discrepancies, and maintain good supplier relationships

Ability to generate reports, track inventory, and communicate efficiently using Microsoft Office programs
