The Production Manager supports the successful execution of Boston’s LGBTQ+ and allied Chorus, Coro Allegro’s concerts by coordinating logistics in collaboration with the Artistic and Executive Directors. Duties include meeting at the concert venue with leadership to plan logistics, liaising with the recording engineer, preparing and updating production paperwork (schedule, contact sheets, and calendar), and recruiting and hiring a Production Assistant. The Production Manager assembles and trains the front-of-house teams, including box office staff and ushers, supervises ticket scanning and patron seating, and ensures all equipment (e.g., walkie-talkies) arei charged and functional. They also set up the ticketing/Coro table and sandwich board.
During concert week, the Production Manager directs venue operations and production set-up. They attend all dress rehearsals. (Generally three) Responsibilities include mapping and executing stage and riser placement, coordinating with staff to provide seating modifications, managing riser set-up and strike with chorus volunteers, and overseeing venue access, lighting, and climate control according to protocol. On concert day, the Production Manager ensures smooth front-of-house operations, supervises seating and ticketing, acts as liaison between the Artistic Director and FOH staff, and troubleshoots last-minute issues. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a production or stage manager, flexibility under pressure, and the ability to supervise and support volunteers with a spirit that is both fun and respectful. This role also includes coordinating volunteer placements, supporting post-concert reception set-up, and ensuring all materials are returned to the office at the close of the event.
The Production Manager is paid per Concert at the rate of $1,100-$1200, based on experience. Coro’s concerts this year are on November 15, March 16, and May 17. Attendance at all rehearsals (3) during production week is required. The estimated number of hours per concert is 25-30. We prefer candidates who can commit to all three concerts.
