The Assistant Director of Sales is an experienced sales leader with proven business development experience, a strong background in the Hawaii luxury hospitality market, and the ability to build strong client partnerships.

Position Overview

A newly opened luxury hotel and spa on O‘ahu is seeking an Assistant Director of Sales to help lead sales efforts to drive group business from domestic and Hawaii markets. This role will partner closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and play a key role in shaping sales strategy, building client relationships, and positioning the property as a premier destination for meetings, events, and leisure groups.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively generate new business from domestic and Hawaii markets, with a focus on group and corporate accounts.
  • Manage sales activities including forecasting, budgeting, lead management, and client presentations.
  • Oversee and support a small sales team, including a Sales Coordinator, while collaborating with Marketing, Revenue, and Event Sales.
  • Represent the property in meetings, site visits, and industry events.
  • Develop and implement sales plans aligned with market trends and organizational goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with travel industry partners, planners, and clients.

Skills

  • Business development and relationship-building in the hospitality sector.
  • Strong sales presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of domestic U.S. and Hawaii markets.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Familiarity with hotel sales systems.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of progressive hotel sales experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or senior sales role.
  • Background in luxury or upscale hotels/resorts preferred.
  • Proven track record of securing group and corporate business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Local Hawaii market knowledge
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and events.
