Position Summary The Marina Dock Attendant works closely with the Marina Manager and helps coordinate the daily operation of the Marina; responsibilities including the safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the docks, assisting boaters, and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the marina facilities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assists in all marina operations to include, but not limited to, marina reservations, facilities, inventory control, guest satisfaction, and policy/procedure enforcement. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition, inspections are up to date and preventative maintenance programs are in place and being monitored. Reports any maintenance issues in a timely manner to the Marina Manager. Routinely inspect and maintain all aspects of the marina to ensure proper safety and that appearance meets or exceeds standards. Determine and consider the intricacies of each vessel and their circumstances – i.e., vacationing, guests on board, wide beam, deep draft, etc. Secure water and electrical supply to vessels as required. Check the dock lines and utility supplies as necessary during changing weather conditions. Make periodic "Slip Checks" to verify vessels in storage and keep property management software up to date. Analyze physical requirements of vessels and assign appropriate slip locations based on customer needs/requests as well as service needs. Maintain accurate checklists and records of maintenance and repairs as required (including docks, piers, emergency and safety equipment, outside lighting, etc.). Maintain a good working relationship with the area's Coast Guard. Process and modify dockage reservations via phone, mobile app and email. Assist with advertising and promoting Marina's services and slips. Manage response to windstorms or other emergency events that could damage marina assets or owner/guest property. Ensure proper handling of VHF base radio operations. Coordinate guest arrival and orientation, assist guests with embarking and disembarking vessels, manage pre-arrival communication for guests and provide daily arrival and departure reports for distribution. Assists with overseeing kayak and paddle board services. Assist with special Marina events i.e., boat shows, tournaments, etc. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Experience and Knowledge Previous Marina/Boating experience preferred. Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding owner and guest service. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and computer skills including the ability to understand other computer programs. Working knowledge of Health Safety Standards, OSHA, Federal/State Law and any necessary safety precautions associated with work. Ability to assess and evaluate standard and critical situations quickly and accurately. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and oral instruction. Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships and effectively communicate with other employees, owners, guests and other business contacts. Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accordingly. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, maintain good active listening skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day. Working outdoors in hot, humid, windy and wet environment that includes slippery conditions means you must be adaptable to the elements. Able to work as many hours as the business demands and be willing to maintain a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
