Job Description Salary: Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness (WPHW)is growing, and we are excited to be adding new people to our team! Wabanaki traditions, language, and culture guide our approach and describe the ways we live in harmony with each other and the land we collectively share. Services are available to community members living on and off-reservation across the State of Maine.

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to ensure proper processes and internal controls are followed to maximize efficiency, compliance, and integrity within the accounting system. Provides updates related to spreadsheets, files, and reports as needed. Works with the other fiscal staff to meet required deadlines of activities and supports supervisor to implement systems improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities: Manages financial transactions and financial planning Manages disbursement and receipting of all funds Assists with the reporting of financial information Prepares financial statements, estimates, summaries, and other financial analyses and management reports Conduct month-end and year-end closing procedures Review reconciled bank statements Prepares data and assists with the annual audit Ensure practices are GAAP and MAAP compliant and comply with federal, state, and local regulations Coding of Accounts Payable invoices Prepare and review journal entries through appropriate procedures Review all invoices before posting Record and maintain all Event accounting records Record bi-weekly payroll; review fringe entries Assists with contract and subaward monitoring Other duties, as assigned Education and Experience Required: Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, economics, commerce, or a related field; masters degree preferred Four (4) years of satisfactory, full-time experience with accounting or financial management Experience with QuickBooks desired Experience with reimbursement or medical billing desired Experience working with Tribal populations preferred Experience with accounts payable procedures
