Veterinarian/Veterinary

Technician

to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal. The Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician will ensure proper capture, sedation, tagging, sample collection, and post-capture care of animals in compliance with regulatory standards and animal welfare guidelines. This position supports field-based and laboratory work involving live marine mammals and sea turtles as part of ecological and health research. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist or lead animal capture events, including sedation, tagging, monitoring, and recovering wild marine mammals. Collect, process, and analyze biological samples (blood, scutes, feces, etc.) in the field or lab. Maintain veterinary equipment and field kits. Ensure compliance with all applicable permits (e.g., MMPA, ESA) and IACUC standards. Support necropsies and diagnostic procedures Contribute to scientific documentation, permit applications, and presentations. REQUIREMENTS: Veterinary Technician: Bachelors degree and more than 5 years of relevant experience with marine mammals or wildlife. Veterinarian: DVM degree and more than 10 years of experience

sedating/monitoring

wild marine mammals. Knowledge of marine species handling, diagnostics, and health assessments. Strong communication and record-keeping skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member in remote field conditions and for extended periods.
