The posted pay scale represents the range the Company reasonably expects to pay candidates for this position. The Surgical Technologist assumes responsibility and accountability for the preparation of operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques. They perform a variety of technical duties to assist patients with surgery, maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and safety standards. The Surgical Tech is responsible for pulling cases completely and providing all equipment for the cases. They cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and follow infection control policies. They maintain aseptic techniques, actively monitor situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique, and assist in maintaining the correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges. They provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patients' care and privacy. They identify and care for specimens and notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs as needed. They assist in clearing OR suites and may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, harmful elements. The role involves collaborative responsibility for the treatment and care of patients from pediatrics through geriatrics. This position is supervised by the Technical Coordinator and reports to the Manager/Director of Perioperative Services.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Surgical Technician
Current BLS certification
Completion of course for surgical technicians preferred
Full command of the English language (verbal and written)
Physical abilities including heavy lifting and perceptive acuity (visual, hearing) to perform duties satisfactorily
