CAPSLO is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team at 40 Prado. In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to clients, while maintaining high standards in food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, housekeeping, inventory, and recordkeeping. Your work directly supports CAPSLO's mission by helping individuals gain the nourishment and stability they need to pursue employment and housing opportunities.
Qualifications: Minimum of two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education. Experience cooking for large groups is preferred. Must have or successfully complete a certified Food Safety and Sanitation class within 30 days of beginning employment. Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws. As a Cook you will:
Prepare and distribute meals; maintain safe food storage and handling per health regulations. Keep kitchen clean and sanitary; wash dishes, cookware, and utensils. Assist with menu planning and recipe development. Travel for grocery shopping and order pickups. Maintain records and submit receipts for purchases. Collaborate with SLO Foodbank on food rescue programs; sort, weigh, and inspect donated food. Support training of culinary interns and apprentices. Follow all safety protocols and perform other duties as needed.
