Join a top manufacturer in the automotive industry. They are seeking a high-performing Controls Engineer to join their dynamic team in Chicago.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Optimize Processes – Design, implement, and improve automated manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure consistent production quality.
- Program, Maintain, and Troubleshoot Equipment – Write, test, and update PLC, HMI, and robotics programming; maintain control systems; and resolve technical issues to minimize disruptions in plant operations.
- Design and Integrate Electronic Controls – Engineer and implement electronic control systems for new and existing machinery, ensuring seamless integration with plant equipment and production lines.
- Drive Plant Improvements and Compliance – Lead initiatives to upgrade manufacturing systems, improve plant performance, and ensure all equipment and processes meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Collaboration – Negotiate with vendors and contractors for control system components, manage technical specifications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective and reliable solutions.
Qualifications
- 2 years of college education
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with: PLC programming, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Industrial Controls, AutoCad, Safety, and ARC Flash
- 20%+ travel as required
