Exclusions applyJob Description: PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population served is all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the VP of Professional Services/Physician Recruitment, the Food & Nutrition Service (FNS) Director will supervise operational functions of the FNS department. The FNS Director and the Clinical Nutrition Manager collaborate for safe food handling, emergency food supplies, employee's performance, menu planning, QAPI programs. The Director of Food & Nutrition responsibilities include daily supervision of all food purchasing, production, catering and sanitation for patient and non-patient food services. Purchasing is accomplished in a cost effective manner within production and budget standards. Manpower, space, equipment, dollars and time are effectively utilized to meet hospital goals and objectives.LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:The participant integrates their department's services with the Hospital's primary functions and overall plan for care delivery and other departments. The participant develops and reviews house-wide and department specific policies. Where appropriate, coordinates policies with other primary functions and/or departments annually. The participant achieves and documents desired staffing to budget ratios within targeted goals. The participant is involved directly and/or supports subordinate participation in the Employee Performance and Improvement process as measured by active participation in Quality Council activities annually, recommends capital equipment and physical space and resources appropriate to department needs and orients, evaluates performance and competency of outside contractors and vendor services." Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have two years of experience in a management role and a Bachelor's degree in a related field OR four years of experience in a management role. The individual must also be a Registered Dietitian or a Certified Dietary Manager. CBORD Systems experience is preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, portions, and percentages if required.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to interact appropriately with others.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Must have a current ServSafe Food Manager Certification or obtain within 6 months of hire. Responsibilities and Essential Functions: *Indicates Essential Function 1 * The FNS Director will work collaboratively with the Clinical Nutrition Manager to ensure all regulatory guidelines are met. 2 * Ensures that staff consistently completes assigned work. Conducts and is responsible for the training of staff within the department. Completes performance appraisals on time. 3 * Responsible for hiring, evaluating and supervising employees. Performs counseling, as needed, to improve employee performance and desired outcomes. 4 * Participates in meetings relevant to Dietary Services. Coordinates the efforts of Dietary with those of the other departments to ensure overall success for the hospital. 5 * Recommends equipment for capital purchases to ensure effective operations of the department. Oversees the cleaning and service repair of all dietary equipment. 6 * Ensures meals are served on time and are of highest quality for consistency, taste and nutritional value. 7 * Ensures customer satisfaction and food quality. Recommends meal pricing structure to Administration based on labor and raw food/supply costs. 8 * Maintains food and supply inventories to support the patient needs and daily menus. Eliminates food waste by inventory control and stock rotation. Orders supplies, makes recommendations for preferred supply vendors, oversees cash from food sales and reconciles cash register monies and receipts. 9 * Maintains a high standard of customer service and sanitation for the department. Maintains operations within sanitary and safety regulatory guidelines. 10 * Actively participates in achieving and maintaining department compliance with all state, federal and third party regulatory agency standards. Is accountable for maintaining your department at "Survey Ready" status at all times. 11 * Demonstrates continuous improvement in measures specific to your department that benchmark the Organization's performance against national standards and result in maximum reimbursement to the Organization. 12 * Plans, prepares and manages budget to be within the District's expectations.
