Head Coach

Overview: The Wattsburg Area School District is seeking a dedicated Softball Head Coach with the ability to work closely with the members of the coaching staff, players, Athletic Director, and Building Principal to build and maintain a sports program that focuses on teamwork, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed and have a desire to work with student athletes. Qualifications: • Prior softball head coaching experience at or above high school level. College softball playing experience preferred. • Excellent teaching skills. • In depth knowledge of softball. • Willingness to develop aspects of the softball program year-round. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain current and sufficient knowledge of all matters pertaining to the softball program. • Plan, direct, and supervise the teaching of individual fundamentals and team concepts of the sport. • Assist the Athletic Director in adhering to all rules and regulations of the PIAA, District 10, Erie County League, and other regions to which the school belongs. • Maintain all pertinent information regarding team or individual records. • Exemplify good sportsmanship at all times. • Develop and maintain a schedule of practices and games. • Responsible for the inventory, general upkeep, protection, and storage of equipment for the entire program. • Write a season summary evaluating the program and make recommendations for improvement at the end of each season. • Draft and submit a budget for the entire program for the next school year. • Provide proper supervision of all practices and games and transportation. • Arrive promptly to games and practices. • Work enthusiastically in building sportsmanship, competitiveness, and self-respect while developing good public relations within the school, community, county, and league.
