About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP of Biology and Translational Research to join their R&D Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be a visionary scientific leader with a strong background in biology, biochemistry, or cell biology, and a proven track record in drug discovery and development. This role is pivotal in driving the expansion of the discovery pipeline, shaping discovery strategy, and fostering collaborations to accelerate the development of new therapeutic modalities. The VP will be responsible for leading the discovery biology team, overseeing target identification, and pre-clinical development, and ensuring the integration of translational insights. A key focus is on advancing discovery programs from target validation to clinical development, with an emphasis on using cutting-edge technologies to gain deep mechanistic insights into disease biology.

Applicants for the VP position should have a PhD in a relevant field, at least 15 years of experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical R&D, and a strong background in therapeutic areas such as immunology, metabolic diseases, hematology, oncology, and rare diseases. The role requires expertise in leading biology efforts for the discovery and development of various drug classes, including peptides and small molecules, and experience with advanced screening platforms. The ideal candidate will be a highly engaged, self-starting individual with excellent leadership, communication, and partnering skills. Responsibilities also include building and leading a discovery biology group, managing budgets, and staying abreast of the latest scientific advances to ensure the delivery of next-generation therapies.
