Summary
The Fredericksburg HCC (FxHCC), opening in March 2025, is seeking an Associate Chief Health Informatics Officer (ACHIO). Part of the Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVHCS), FxHCC will expand services in a growing veteran region. The ACHIO will work with the Director of Clinical Services at FxHCC and the CVHCS CHIO in Richmond to coordinate informatics efforts at FxHCC and oversee ambulatory care informatics initiatives for the CVHCS Health informatics service. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending applicants may be considered, but employment is contingent upon meeting all requirements. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable) Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent Enrollment in or completion of ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs or equivalent experience Proficiency in English Additional requirements include: MD or DO degree, Master's in bioinformatics, Computer Science, Business, or Health Administration, or 3+ years leadership in clinical informatics; active board certification in a clinical specialty and in Clinical Informatics or eligibility; minimum of 5 years clinical physician experience; active U.S. medical license Duties
Lead major clinical informatics initiatives, combining clinical, administrative, and technical expertise Assess information needs, evaluate clinical processes, develop decision support systems, and manage clinical information systems Demonstrate proficiency in core informatics functions as per VHA standards Practice medicine in a part-time capacity (minimum 25%) in their clinical specialty at FxHCC Support and improve clinical information systems, ensure data quality, and facilitate effective electronic health record use Participate in organizational change, collaboration, and project management related to clinical information systems Perform other duties as assigned Work Environment & Benefits
