Position Summary

The IT Vendor Relationship Manager is a strategic leadership role within the Office of the CIO, responsible for overseeing and optimizing all facets of the company’s IT vendor portfolio. This individual will develop, implement, and manage the vendor relationship strategy for hardware, software, and IT services across the enterprise. As the principal liaison between IT, business stakeholders, Procurement, and Legal, this leader will ensure alignment of IT sourcing decisions with enterprise goals, effectively managing vendor performance, contract negotiations, and budgetary processes.

Responsibilities

Strategic Vendor Management & Governance

Develop and execute a comprehensive vendor relationship strategy aligned with enterprise IT goals, financial planning cycles, and risk management policies. Establish vendor segmentation and tiering models (e.g., strategic, tactical, operational) and define differentiated engagement models for each tier. Lead strategic partnerships with top-tier vendors—including Oracle, Microsoft, and other cloud/SaaS providers—through structured Executive Business Reviews (EBRs), joint planning, and roadmap alignment. Partner with Procurement and Legal to ensure all vendor engagements meet corporate standards, including risk mitigation, compliance, and spend control.

Risk & Compliance Oversight

Own and operationalize vendor-related risk management frameworks—including Financial Risk (cost exposure, bankruptcy), Operational Risk (performance, delivery gaps), and Cybersecurity Risk (data handling, compliance gaps). Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies, regulatory requirements, and audit controls related to vendor engagements. Collaborate with the cybersecurity and enterprise risk teams to perform due diligence and maintain vendor risk profiles.

Cloud & SaaS Vendor Lifecycle Management

Develop and execute vendor strategies specifically tailored for cloud and SaaS environments, including licensing, scalability, integration, and compliance. Monitor SLA adherence, usage optimization, and renewal readiness for major SaaS providers. Partner with application and infrastructure teams to align cloud vendors to internal technology roadmaps.

Contract Lifecycle Management & Automation

Oversee end-to-end vendor contract lifecycle: RFP, negotiation, execution, renewals, and terminations. Leverage automation tools and contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms to enable visibility, performance tracking, and streamlined workflows. Maintain a centralized vendor dashboard that tracks contract terms, obligations, SLAs, renewals, and performance indicators.

Financial & Performance Management

Track and reconcile IT vendor spend; contribute to IT’s annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles. Produce actionable reports on vendor performance, cost trends, and value realization. Drive accountability through KPIs, SLA reviews, benchmarking, and vendor scorecards.

Innovation & Strategic Collaboration

Lead initiatives to tap into vendors’ innovation labs, co-development platforms, and pilot programs. Facilitate co-development of joint technology roadmaps with strategic vendors to accelerate transformation efforts and gain early access to emerging capabilities.

Continuous Improvement & Post-Mortems

Drive structured post-engagement reviews, root cause analysis, and lessons learned to refine vendor strategies and mitigate future risks. Continuously improve vendor management processes by soliciting internal feedback and adapting practices to business needs.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Engagement

Facilitate resolution of competing IT and business priorities where vendor dependencies exist. Communicate vendor plans, risks, and opportunities to IT and business leadership to ensure transparency and alignment. Serve as a key partner in change management initiatives tied to vendor-driven technology implementations.
