EF International Language Campus in Honolulu is seeking a passionate and experienced
Academic Coordinator
to lead our academic programs and teaching team. This is a full-time role, central to ensuring consistent academic excellence and a high-quality student experience.
About the Role As Academic Coordinator, you will help guide and support a team of ~16 teachers, manage the day-to-day operations of the academic office, and ensure that every student reaches their learning goals. You’ll work closely with the Academic Director and step into leadership when needed. Success in this role requires a
solution-oriented mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities Lead, support, and professionally develop our teaching team through training, observations, and ongoing mentorship. Deliver academic excellence across all programs through strong implementation of the Efekta learning system. Advise students on academic goals, class placement, schedules, and other program matters. Manage academic operations including: SPIN and schedule updates Test administration Certificate creation and distribution Assist with onboarding, interviewing, and training of new teachers. Support teachers and students with IT issues. Teach at least 1 General English and 1 SPIN class during non-peak periods, and as needed. Ensure compliance with external accreditation requirements. Collaborate with other departments to support a positive, professional, and welcoming school culture. Participate in emergency-phone rotation and assist with school-wide initiatives and events. Requirements Authorized to work in the United States. Bachelor’s degree in TESOL or a related field (Master’s preferred). TESOL certification (CELTA or equivalent) required. Minimum 3 years’ ESL teaching experience. Direct management or supervisory experience. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail. Flexible, proactive, and confident working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to change. Goal-oriented with a proven record of meeting deadlines. A positive attitude, sense of humor, and empathy for students and staff
