Requirements The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing high or mega complexity projects within large and complex programs. The role involves using advanced project management knowledge to plan and evaluate activities, with some supervision from the PMO Director. The individual may have direct reports or work within a matrixed team. Regular reporting to stakeholders, including the Executive Committee, is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate multiple departments, vendors, and assets to ensure timely and cost-effective milestone achievement.
Establish collaborative partnerships among stakeholders for scoping, financial, and resource decisions.
Identify, document, and manage cross-organizational and vendor dependencies.
Establish project governance structures and processes with executive sponsors and stakeholders.
Mentor and coach junior project management staff and team members.
Support annual planning activities with relevant data.
Provide financial performance and forecasting reports to executives and regulators.
Assess and mitigate project risks.
Evaluate changes based on cost, schedule, risk, and scope impacts, and manage dependencies.
Maintain project management artifacts per standards and regulations.
Identify efficiencies and improvement opportunities.
Required Skills & Work Experience:
Proven project management skills managing complex, cross-functional projects in a highly matrixed environment.
Experience with dependency management across projects/programs.
Strong communication skills to present complex information effectively.
Ability to network and leverage relationships with stakeholders.
Diplomatic teamwork skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of project management experience or equivalent.
PMP certification (willing to obtain within 12 months).
Legal work authorization in the U.S.
Preferred Skills & Work Experience:
Experience in the transportation industry.
People management experience, either direct or matrixed.
