Position Summary
The LVSS Project Manager is responsible for leading the design, coordination, and implementation of all Low Voltage Special Systems (LVSS) for the Terminal 5 Renovation & Reconstruction (T5 R&R) program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This includes oversight of IT infrastructure, security systems, communications, fire alarms, building automation, and BIM coordination.
This is a full-time, on-site role requiring deep experience in airport or transportation-related projects in Los Angeles, with a strong understanding of special airport systems, terminal buildings, and stakeholder engagement in active operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scope Management
• Define and manage the scope of LVSS systems including:
• IT infrastructure (networking, servers, wireless access)
• Security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms)
• Communications systems (public address, intercom, VoIP)
• Fire alarm systems
• Building automation (HVAC controls, lighting)
• BIM coordination (digital modeling and documentation)
• Develop RFPs and lead procurement for designers and contractors.
• Ensure scope aligns with LAWA standards and project goals.
Design & Technical Oversight
• Coordinate design reviews and resolve technical issues.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, mock-up approvals, and submittal processes.
• Establish IT submittal approval procedures and audit review consistency.
• Provide technical guidance on specifications and BIM production.
Construction Coordination
• Monitor construction progress and mitigate delays or inefficiencies.
• Ensure systems are installed per specifications and safety standards.
• Conduct field surveys and inspections to validate conditions.
• Enforce safe construction practices and quality control protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary liaison with LAWA IMT and airport management.
• Facilitate coordination between designers, contractors, and project teams.
• Support consistency across adjacent LAWA and TDIP projects.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
• Maintain detailed records of scope, drawings, specifications, and approvals.
• Enforce program requirements and monitor deliverables for compliance.
• Review pay applications and verify completed work against contract terms.
Risk & Budget Management
• Track risks, review change proposals, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare monthly risk reports and briefings for senior management and program boards.
• Manage change orders and ensure timely documentation and resolution.
Project Lifecycle & Closeout
• Support all phases from concept through closeout, including:
• Design reviews and non-compliance resolution
• Shop drawing coordination
• Factory/site acceptance testing
• Commissioning and punch list management
• Manage closeout documentation to ensure efficient project completion.
Impact on Airport Projects
• Operational Readiness: Ensures all systems are functional and integrated before terminal opening.
• Passenger Experience: Enhances safety, communication, and comfort.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintains adherence to LAWA and industry standards.
• Efficiency & Cost Control: Prevents delays and budget overruns through proactive management.
Additional Requirements
• This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position at LAX (Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week).
• After-hours or weekend work may be required and is considered part of the salary.
• No remote work; must be present on-site or in the office.
• Consultant must provide their own laptop and cell phone for business use.
• LAWA will provide a desktop computer for on-site use and VPN access if needed.
• Transportation to/from the LAX worksite is the responsibility of the consultant.

Skills and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in construction or project management, with at least 5 years on airport or transportation-related projects in Los Angeles.
• Experience managing projects over $50 million in value.
• Strong knowledge of special airport systems, terminal construction, and IT infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, and Design/Build delivery methods.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and familiarity with CAD or Revit.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Master’s degree in a related field.
• Certifications such as PMP, PE, LEED, AAAE, AICP, or other relevant credentials.
Experience with LAWA standards, permitting, and stakeholder processes. null
