Western Union Western Union is seeking a senior compliance leader to serve as the principal
Global Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer . In this role, you will operate within the BSA/AML Office, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the BSA Compliance Program and AML requirements outside the US. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, your responsibilities include managing projects related to Global Policy and Procedures, Partner and Agent Onboarding, Regulatory Outreach, Licensing, and Exam Management for all Western Union subsidiaries. Role Responsibilities
Oversee critical areas —including BSA/AML, Licensing, Regulatory Compliance—and modernize compliance frameworks, risk systems, and processes to maximize effectiveness and foster a high-performance culture aligned with business priorities. Develop & Administer BSA/AML Compliance Program : Create and implement policies, procedures, and controls to prevent and detect money laundering and terrorist financing. Lead enterprise-wide risk oversight, compliance policy transformation, licensing, exam management, and training. Manage functional budget and planning. Regulatory Awareness & Compliance : Stay updated on BSA, AML, OFAC, and other regulations, ensuring the company's programs and services remain compliant. Address emerging regulatory areas and industry best practices. Training & Culture Building : Develop and deliver training for staff, Board, and Agents on BSA/AML regulations and policies to promote a compliance culture. Reporting : Prepare and present compliance reports to senior leadership and regulators on risks and program effectiveness. Strategic Compliance Leadership : Lead global initiatives to meet US and international regulatory requirements. Demonstrate leadership qualities such as driving execution and owning results. AML & Sanctions Compliance : Oversee AML and sanctions programs, including transaction monitoring, reporting, and due diligence, aligned with FATF standards. Team Leadership & Development : Build and mentor a high-performing team, establish objectives, and drive accountability. Critical Thinking & Collaboration : Resolve issues timely, analyze guidance, and collaborate across functions to ensure compliance and organizational resilience. Role Requirements
Minimum 10 years of AML compliance experience within financial institutions, regulators, legal practices, or consulting firms. Deep knowledge of U.S. and international AML/CFT laws and enforcement frameworks. Experience working with global AML regulatory bodies such as FATF, FinCEN, OFAC. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; writing samples required. Bachelor’s degree required; JD or MBA preferred. Certifications such as CAMS or CBAP are required.
