BIP/BMP Database Architect / Software Developer (DBA/SD)
to support a road and bridge inspection program with the
Department of Transportation . The DBA/SD is responsible for building, maintaining, and testing software and web applications that support the collection, storage, and management of bridge and road inspection data. This role is fully onsite in
Ashburn, VA , and requires eligibility to receive a
Public Trust
clearance.
Responsibilities of the BIP Database Architect include:
Lead software and database projects using Agile methodologies Design, develop, and maintain web and Windows-based applications, ensuring Section 508 compliance Manage and support database systems (SQL Server, Access, Oracle), including migrations, backups, recovery, performance tuning, and security Collaborate with IT and vendors on software installations, upgrades, and deployments Provide user support and troubleshoot software/database issues, logging all activity via the DOT help desk system Maintain documentation for software, databases, and development standards Analyze bridge management data and generate reports/maps using Crystal Reports and GIS tools Ensure compliance with NBIS, NTIS, and FHWA security standards Oversee configuration, change, and lifecycle management for software and databases Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization, and plan for future growth 10% travel or less Qualifications for the BIP Database Architect Include:
4-6+ years of relevant field experience Proficient in Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, and Macro/VBA programming 1-2 years familiarity with ARC GIS Skilled in web development using Visual Studio, Classic ASP, ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, VBScript, and Python Experienced with XML, JSON, and relational database design and management (SQL Server, Access, Oracle) Strong background in object-oriented programming and database administration, including installation, patching, tuning, and maintenance on Windows servers Familiarity with bridge inspection processes and QA/QC of structural condition data Eligibility for a U.S. Public Trust clearance
Compensation and Benefits:
• $90,000 - $100,000 Dependent on experience • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
