The University of Nevada, Reno seeks an experienced and effective leader to serve as the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE). The VPUE plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all undergraduate students have a comprehensive, transformative, and successful educational experience at Nevada. The VPUE engages in student-centered, results-oriented practices to provide critical leadership and vision and embraces access and diversity of ideas. The VPUE reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost and oversees an expansive portfolio of strategic services and responsibilities. In support of undergraduate academic success, the VPUE is a dynamic leader to various areas, including but not limited to: Undergraduate Academic Advising, Academic Support Centers (e.g. the University Tutoring Center, the University Math Center, the University Writing Center), the Office of Advancements in Teaching Excellence, Global/International Education and Service Learning and Civic Engagement. Within this reporting line are the award-winning Collegiate Academy and NevadaFIT initiatives, as well as the Digital Wolf Pack Initiative. The VPUE will develop and lead innovative programs to enhance the student experience and expand access, in alignment with the University Strategic Plan and in support of the vision of the University President and Executive Vice President and Provost. The VPUE provides oversight and leadership for activities with relevant accreditation agencies, including serving as the Accreditation Liaison Officer for Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The VPUE uses data-driven information to ensure accuracy in reporting and informed decisions. This work is completed as part of a comprehensive approach that aligns accreditation with strategic planning, assessment, and program review, which are all under the charge of the VPUE. As an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, the VPUE acts as a liaison and representative on issues pertaining to undergraduate education both internally and externally. In this role, the VPUE often represents the University in work with various Nevada counties and agencies, the Nevada System of Higher Education, and other bodies as directed by the Executive Vice President and Provost. The VPUE works with the Associated Students of the University of Nevada, other student bodies, and Faculty Senate to address concerns and in the development of strategic initiatives that support student success. The VPUE works closely with the Colleges/Schools and departments to provide guidance on curriculum development, experiential learning, assessment, updates to policies and procedures, and both long-term and short-term program planning. This role collaborates with Student Affairs and the Graduate School on overlapping efforts, matriculation support and post-baccalaureate transition, policy development, accreditation requirements and comprehensive program review. Required Qualifications Candidates for the role of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education must possess a terminal degree and five years or more of university administration experience, particularly as related to undergraduate education, student success, advising, traditional and first year experience, and gen-ed design or related. Candidates must have two years or more of supervisory or management experience. Candidates must hold or qualify for an academic appointment at the rank of Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate.
