Position Description:

Our client, a well-established law firm, is seeking an experienced Associate to join their Employment, Labor & Benefits Practice Group. This role involves representing employers in a wide range of employment-related matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, restrictive covenant enforcement, and employee discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to employers on federal and state employment law matters.
  • Draft and review employment-related agreements, including confidentiality, restrictive covenant, and invention agreements.
  • Develop and revise employee handbooks and workplace policies.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of COBRA and workers’ compensation issues.
  • Conduct workplace training sessions on employment law topics.
  • Represent employers in litigation and administrative proceedings, including appearances before the EEOC, IDHR, OSHA, and other agencies.
  • Handle mediations, arbitrations, fact-finding conferences, and on-site investigations.
  • Manage client communications and case files with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct witness interviews and perform complex factual investigations.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions independently, including necessary travel.
  • Argue motions in state and federal courts.

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Illinois.
  • 5–7 years of employment law experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hybrid work model (T/TH in office, plus one more day of your choice).
