erve First Position Summary: Senior Design Manager – Michigan/East Coast Properties The Senior Design Manager executes hands-on design projects across Boyne's eastern resort properties, primarily based in Northern Michigan. You'll manage real renovation projects - from refreshing hotel rooms to redesigning employee housing - following established Boyne design standards. This role combines creative design work with project management, ensuring our properties stay fresh and functional while maintaining brand consistency .

(quarterly travel to other properties) Key Responsibilities: Manage Design Projects :

Lead renovation projects from concept to completion across multiple resort properties. This includes guest room refreshes, lobby updates, restaurant redesigns, employee housing improvements, and back-of-house upgrades. Create Design Plans:

Develop space plans, select finishes and furniture, and create specifications for contractors and vendors - all within Boyne's established design guidelines and budget parameters. Coordinate Project Execution:

Work with procurement to order furniture and materials, manage delivery timelines, and coordinate with local property teams and contractors to keep projects on track. Travel & Site Management:

Spend significant time on-site at properties conducting walkthroughs, reviewing work quality, and managing punch lists. Primary focus on Michigan properties (Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Inn at Bay Harbor) with quarterly trips to Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Loon, and Gatlinburg. Budget & Timeline Management:

Track project budgets, manage multiple concurrent renovations, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within financial parameters. Local Team Partnership:

Work closely with property managers, operations teams, and maintenance staff to understand practical needs and ensure designs work for daily operations. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain detailed project records, provide regular status updates, and ensure all work aligns with Boyne's design standards and documentation requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 8-10 years of interior design experience, preferably in hospitality or commercial projects

Strong technical skills in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite

Proven project management experience handling multiple renovations simultaneously

Experience with furniture procurement and contractor coordination

Understanding of hospitality operations and both guest-facing and back-of-house design needs

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Comfortable with frequent travel and hands-on site work
