Cashier Position
The Cashier is responsible for checking out customer's merchandise through the POS registers. They perform various customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging all customers in a prompt and friendly manner, handling merchandise with care. Essential functions include supporting a strong commitment to world class customer service, ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers, and remaining product knowledgeable. Cashiers also stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not directly ringing up product. They provide a legendary experience for every customer, every time by assisting customers in making buying decisions by identifying and evaluating customers' needs, making product recommendations based on this analysis, and promoting programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up. Experience/qualifications include a minimum degree of high school education or equivalent experience. Knowledge, skills, and ability include the ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change to customers, communicate in a friendly and professional manner to customers and other associates, establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers, and operate a computerized point of sale register system. Travel requirements are not applicable. Physical requirements include constantly standing and/or walking during the shift, occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc., constantly communicating with others to exchange information, constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, occasionally working in low or high temperatures, occasionally working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, occasionally working in noisy environments, and light work that includes constantly moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally moving and lifting objects up to 50 pounds or more (utilizing a team lift as needed). Independent judgment is required to perform tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Cashiers choose from limited alternatives to resolve problems and often make recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
