Job Summary: The Senior Accountant is a newly created position and is responsible for overseeing the integrity of accounting records, ensuring timely reconciliations, and managing various financial reporting duties within Compatriot and its subsidiaries. This role demands a strong grasp of US GAAP and management reporting, with a focus on delivering accurate financial statements, supporting audits, and leading reporting for various internal and external stakeholders.
Accounting Responsibilities:
Coordinate financial reporting and consolidation for consolidated full US GAAP financial statements in compliance with desired format and direction
- Support financial aspects of projects, including the preparation of cost allocations, depreciation schedules, and journal entries, to facilitate timely financial closures
- Perform technical accounting research and analysis of transactions in accordance with US GAAP and present conclusions in accounting memos
- Participate in the monthly and quarterly review processes for journal entries and financial statements to ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly equity adjustments and help manage consolidation processes in Prophix and Excel
- Help document and review accounting for acquisitions, loan closings, and other significant financial activities, ensuring detailed record-keeping and compliance with financial regulations
- Contribute to the annual audit process by preparing necessary schedules and supporting documentation for auditor
- Assist in improvement and maintenance of accounting policies and the control environment.
Treasury Responsibilities:
- Aid Director of Tax & Treasury with cash tracking, forecasting and reporting
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist in the tracking and reporting of new loan terms and related compliance
- Assist in tax related workpapers, including book and tax depreciation calculations for year end accounting as well as Plan
Education and Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting or a related field
- 3-7 years of experience in accounting in a corporate or public accounting environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting processes.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft applications; experience in consolidation and Workiva is a plus
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Critical thinking skills to solve problems and identify opportunities for process improvement
