Introduction

Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
Summary Statement
The Delaware Department of Justice seeks a Case Processor (Administrative Specialist I Merit Compensation) to join the Criminal Division in New Castle County. Case Processors support specific units within the Division, including the Misdemeanor Trial Unit (MTU) and the Felony Screening Unit (FSU). Currently, there is an immediate need for a Case Processor in the MTU.
Essential Functions
Case Processors in the Misdemeanor Trial Unit are responsible for administrative support throughout the case lifecycle, including creating and maintaining case files, preparing charging documents, accessing records from LEISS, JIC, and CJIS, and managing file organization. They handle calendar management, file retrieval for scheduled matters, and post-adjudication file closure. They frequently interact with courts and law enforcement for evidence requests and communication. Additionally, they may support other units within the Criminal Division as needed.
Case Processors in the Felony Screening Unit focus on case intake and preparation, including preparing charging documents, restitution letters, managing calendars, and transferring files to trial units. They also assist with scheduling and coordinating bail procedures, requiring frequent interaction with courts and law enforcement.
Job Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate competence with:
One year of office support experience (e.g., drafting correspondence, operating office equipment, handling mail, answering phones, maintaining files).
One year of document processing experience (reviewing records for completeness, resolving deficiencies, monitoring activities).
One year of experience using an automated information system for data management.
Six months experience with standard computer applications (creating documents, spreadsheets, maintaining databases).
