System Administrator II
The SA's responsibilities include maintaining the TADSS local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses as they are released from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software at OEM request. Assignments and job duties may include fact finding analysis, development of work processes and procedures, preparing detailed reports, supervise and define objectives, and define priorities, maintenance activities that involve the need for administrative passwords. SA shall provide "over-the-shoulder" assistance to the user and operator, as requested. Responsibilities include maintaining network and computer Information Assurance systems security, evaluating and optimizing network and system performance, assigning and updating security permissions on a Linux network, reviewing and interpreting Linux log files, reviewing and interpreting Windows event files, managing Virtual Machines on Linux and Windows Hosts, maintaining Network Attached Storage RAID array, performing and managing backups, ensuring TADSS connectivity to central computer network, providing TADSS instruction, supporting Point of Need operations, operating, maintaining, administering, and sustaining all networks and the associated devices that are directly related with supporting integrated communications and training networks, including IA support activities, and monitoring and managing ACAS, HBSS, and D-GSA system resources. Travel will be required up to 30% of time to include OCONUS. Degree(s)/Years of Experience: (2+BA/BS or 1+MA/MS) or (4+AA) or (6+No Degree). Certification(s): 8570 DoD Certification. Clearance: Secret.
