Base pay range
$60.00/hr - $65.00/hr Akkodis is seeking a Linux System Administrator for a client in Denton, TX. Rate Range: $60.00/hour to $65.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. For this particular assignment, candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and security of Linux-based systems within the organization. This includes tasks like installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux servers, implementing security measures, managing user access, and automating tasks using scripting and configuration management tools. They would also be involved in deploying and supporting new Linux-based applications and services, ensuring the overall stability and performance of the Linux infrastructure. Core responsibilities include: Installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers, including both physical and virtual environments. Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect Linux systems and data, including user access control, firewalls, and intrusion detection. Automating repetitive tasks and system configurations using scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing regular maintenance to ensure optimal system uptime and performance. Managing user accounts, permissions, and authentication methods on centralized Linux systems. Assisting in the deployment and support of Linux-based applications and services. Documenting system configurations, security procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies for Linux environments. Required Skills and Experience: 8+ years of experience as a system administrator working with Linux operating systems, including command-line tools, system administration tasks, and security best practices. Proficiency in scripting languages like shell scripting, Python, or Perl for automation and system administration tasks. Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Understanding of Linux security concepts, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access control. Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols relevant to Linux systems. Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues with Linux systems. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Desirable Skills and Experience: Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly for Linux-based workloads. Containerization: Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with system monitoring and alerting tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus. Security Compliance Frameworks: Knowledge of security compliance frameworks like CIS, NIST, or similar. Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or related field preferred.
